Environment

In our process we minimise the release of harmful VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) by not using solvents or alcohol in production, using biodegradable, vegetable oil and water based products.

Vegetable based ink

Traditional printing inks are mineral oil based and contribute to ever growing greenhouse gas emissions. The key component in our vegetable based inks is linseed oil, which is made from renewable sources such as flax.

All inks used at APS are vegetable based and for the customer, colours are brighter, scuff resistance is better and a higher gloss on coated stocks is evident.

Computer to Plate

APS is an advanced user of computer-to-plate systems which eliminates the need for film and its associated chemistry form the pre-press process, altogether.

The benefits of the process include better print quality, faster job turnaround, faster press make-ready and a reduction in energy, chemistry and waste materials.

Paper

APS only purchases paper from suppliers that demonstrate environmental awareness. All our paper suppliers have the environmental management accreditation ISO14001

Paper comes in many environmentally responsible forms. From partly to fully recycled using pre and post consumer waste, elemental (ECF) or totally (TCF) chlorine free, or obtained from sustainable forests.

Waste management

All waste generated at APS is recycled (including kitchen waste)

Energy

We use low energy products for the operational lighting, heating and office equipment and are powered by renewable energy.

We have been certified climate neutral by offsetting the company's CO2 emissions through monitoring our energy usage.

An additional service for our customers

Every printed job has a shelf life, time sensitive promotional material, a change of name or address on your stationery. If we've printed it and you no longer need it, give us a call and we'll arrange collection at no cost to yourself. Back at our factory it will be put through our waste paper recycling system. You'll know your waste has been properly recycled.
